Asian Bodywork Therapies
The session combines Shiatsu, Tui Na, Acupressure, Reflexology, and Cupping to address various medical complaints including muscle tension, emotional trauma, anxiety, migraines, low back pain, neck pain, digestive discomfort, and hypertension.
The interaction of practitioner and client is unique to each person and moment. Kathleen’s work is to utilize her toolbox in service of an effective session~
Shiatsu - A modality coming from Japan, with stems from Traditional Chinese Medicine, utilizes compression, tapotement, vibration, and stretching as the practitioner regulates and promotes healthy Ki (also known as Chi or Qi) flow along the meridians and acupoints.
Tui Na - The style of this meridian massage Kathleen was originally trained in is the "Wind and Waters" style taught by Kathleen Davis and Brian O'Dea. By using various hand techniques to work with the meridians and acupoints, free flow of qi can be achieved and blockages removed.
5-Element Acupressure - By working with qi flow of at the acupoints, a balance can be struck between body, mind and spirit. Similar to the elements of our environment, each body has its own internal climate that is continuously changing. Through the profound lens of 5-Element Theory, we can attune to the physical and subtle bodies’ abilities to heal on the macro and micro level.
Reflexology - A great complement to the the above modalities, reflexology maps all the body's organs and parts onto the feet, hands, and ears. Applied pressure to a reflex zone stimulates its corresponding area on the body.
